I picked 3 colors and laid them down on the watercolor paper. Before they dried I went over them with a clean, wet brush to create the streaky look. It started to have a landscape feel, so I decided the blue green section would be water and I intensified it. Then, with a black bleed-proof marker I drew in the bird silhouettes and added Happy Birthday. I ended up going over the “happy” with an embossing pen and embossing it, but the watercolor paper did not take too well to it, though it did make it glossy, so not all was lost. Additionally, I used a blue-green colored pencil to create a “happy” shadow on the water and a few waves.
